1. Joe introduced the Cathedral Park Master Plan and the group discussed input that he will give on npGreenway’s behalf. A) Access to each end of the trail going north and south. B) Reasonable grade going east to Alta and Decatur C) Access to restroom facilities. D) Trail crossing RR tracks will need to be coordinated with rail crossing closings due to neighborhood noise concerns. First meeting of the Cathedral Park Master Plan is May 21st at Water Pollution Control Laboratory.
2. Francie and Scott reported on the meeting with River Plan staff etc on April 16th and request of RR companies to take the trail alignment off the map on Cement Rd, the Rail Bridge and on a rail with trail north of Linton. npGREENWAY objected. The outcome of that discussion was that River Plan staff will contact the RR attorney and test him out that the map will show the alignment on the Cement Rd and River Plan staff will contract for a feasibility study to continue discussion. Staff has $50,000 to use for this study. Unclear what the staff will do with the other sections, the Bridge and the rail to trail north of Linton as staff wanted to put a future/potential marking on the map for all rail road sections. Staff also reported on which sites they will remove the trail alignment due to nature resources staff concerns for shoreline mitigation for salmon, mostly on the west side. Concern about a shoreline trail through Willamette Cove was raised again. Curt reported that at the regular Integration Task Force meeting trails weren’t brought up.
3. Willamette Cove –we’ve heard that we were awarded the $2,000 grant from NPTF for matching the Metro funds for perfecting the trail alignment through the Cove. Metro staff has said they will give Portland Park some funds to do the work. Francie to follow up.
4. We discussed the potential of UP students taking on an engineering project of the trail along the bottom of the bluff. Scott to follow up.
5. NP Enhancement Grant through Metro due in May. We decided to apply for outreach signs at key locations such as the top and bottom of Waud Bluff and perhaps Willamette Cove. Francie and Pam will work on grant.
6. Events - Blue Heron Week- June 3rd walk in Willamette Cove submitted. Paul will do additional press release and Francie will help.
St Johns Parade – we decided no npGREENWAY participation this year.
Sunday Parkway on June 6th—npGREENWAY has a spot for a table at the Overlook Bowl. It was suggested that we ask the Waud Bluff Trail project manager for a rendering of the trail for our table.
