Brochure and map:

We reviewed the map and brochure and asked Breen to finalize into a double sided brochure.  Paul will get print costs for 1,000.  Francie will follow up on possibility of UP printing.

 

Government Committee Report: Lenny reported that Shannon Buono, River Plan staff,  has written a memo on successful Rails with Trails and is beginning discussion with rail roads.

 

The Metro Natural Area grant fund has $2.25 million to disperse each year for the next 10 years or capital and neighborhood green spaces, including trails. We discussed exploring a grant for some trail link on Swan Island and/or Willamette Cove.

 

CBO Grant pending:  Lenny reported that the CBO committee has recommended $250,000 for Swan Island trails.  Sam Adams and Dean Marriot just need to sign off.

 

Core Group meeting schedule:  Francie proposed to have once a month morning meetings on second Tuesdays, only, due to the number of government meetings for core members to attend.  We will make more effort to get core members to government meetings.  For now, she will not send out evening core group meeting announcements.

 

Metro will have an open comment period on the Regional Transportation Plan October 15-November 15,   with a public hearing and open house held at Metro on November 1st, 1:00 pm with a hearing beginning at 2:00pm.   NPWP is currently included in a bundled package of trails for feasibility study. 

 

We discussed the importance of asking elected officials on trail tours, and Paul will contact Randy Leonard for a bike ride. 

 

Francie will try to set up a meeting with Metro and Port staff to discuss timeline for Willamette Cove.

 

Several members will attend the Sullivan’s Gulch Trail committee meeting on Thursday, October 11, 11:00 am at Metro.

 

The next Core Group meeting will be Tuesday, November 13th 7:00 am.
