River Industrial Economic Advisory Group discusses Superfund (May 17) The Thursday, May 17 meeting of the River Industrial Economic Advisory Group (RIEAG) will be a conversation with Rick Applegate, the City’s Superfund program manager. Thursday, May 17 7:30 – 9:00am 1900 SW 4th Avenue, Second Floor, Room 2500B 3. Planning Commissioner Became North District Planner! Former Portland Planning Commissioner Chris Caruso is the new district planner assigned to North Portland. Chris, a LEED certified architect and active neighborhood participant, brings a wealth of community building experience, design and problem-solving expertise, and a tremendous love of Portland to her new position. The role of the district planner is to act as a contact between communities, city agencies, and nonprofit groups on planning and development matters in the district and to be a resource for issues that address district livability and vitality such as economics, development, design, and long range planning. The River Plan team should continue to be the primary contact for issues related to the river or the Willamette Greenway regulations, but if you want to discuss other topics, call Chris. Task Group Updates (Meeting times and locations are subject to change) The Mitigation / Conservation Bank Task Group‘s next meeting is 1pm – 3pm on Monday, May 14. At the meeting, the task group will continue its discussion of criteria for when off-site mitigation should occur as well as the potential mechanisms by which the City could implement a mitigation program. The May 8 meeting topic will be industrial land conversion criteria, discussing questions such as: How should the quantity of industrial land in the harbor area be managed? At the May 22 meeting, the task group members will review and discuss the draft recommendations that staff has proposed.
